Ashraaf Foundation urges tech and business skills to empower the next generation of Muslims

At the 2025 Ashraaf Islamic Foundation Annual Maulud celebration, Stakeholders have calls for the inclusion of entrepreneurship and information technology in the Islamic education curriculum to empower Muslims to compete favorably in the global economy.

The Maulud Nabiyyi event brings together Muslims from across the country, and it aims at promoting the message of Prophet Muhammad, his humility, compassion, and service to humanity.

According to the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olalekan, while delivering the keynote address, the activities of the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation reflect the true spirit of Prophet Muhammad, centered on enlightenment, knowledge sharing, and moral guidance.

He explains the need to review the Islamic education curriculum to enhance productivity and improve the socio-economic well-being of Muslims. He maintained that integrating entrepreneurship and information technology would enable Muslims to remain globally competitive while upholding their faith and values.

Chairman of the National Health Insurance Authority, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, who chaired the occasion, urged Muslims to emulate the Prophet by extending kindness to the needy.

He emphasized the importance of charity in Islam, reminding wealthy Muslims of their obligations to pay zakat and give voluntary sadaqah to support the less privileged. He also cautioned against wasteful spending, urging Muslims to channel their resources toward helping others in line with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad

In his remarks, the Convener and Founder of the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, Imam Sharafadeen Aliagan, called on Muslims to rekindle and strengthen their faith in God amid growing worldly distractions.

According to him, this year’s theme was chosen in response to the noticeable decline in faith among believers, noting that many now struggle to uphold their conviction in the face of life’s trials.

The event, attended by community leaders, representatives of service chiefs, and heads of security agencies, featured prayers, lectures, and recitations highlighting the Prophet’s message of compassion and moral uprightness.
