Muhibdeen Ismail, an Islamic Scholar urges lawyers, judges and other Stakeholders in the justice system to uphold equity and fairness

Mr Muhibdeen, a lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, gave the admonition in his sermon to commemorate the beginning of the 2025/2026 legal year celebration of the Oyo State Judiciary at High Court Mosque, Ring Road, Ibadan.

The sermon was titled “Justice in Islam: A Divine Foundation for Legal and Judicial Integrity.”

Mr Muhibdeen said, ”Justice is a revelation and source of Islamic foundation; we cannot discuss Islam without justice. Justice is Islam, and Islam is justice.

”The concept of this in Islam is that you give everybody their dues in respect of who they are. Those that Allah placed in a position of bringing out justice should know it’s a trust on them. They must not betray the trust given to them by God.

“The judges must work and base their findings, judgment, and everything on justice so they can enjoy God’s blessing in this world and the hereafter.”

Mr Muhibdeen said judges and lawyers must do their work in a just manner and ensure accountability, as whatever they do today will be history tomorrow.

Sheikh Said Igiogun of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, FCE (Special) Oyo, prayed for the chief judge, judges, lawyers, and judicial staff for God’s wisdom and courage to place national interest above self and to promote national unity and cohesion.

Among the dignitaries at the occasion were the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, represented by Olawale Ladoja, and Justices of Peace in Oyo State.
