Today, The Republic of Türkiye marks its 102nd Republic Anniversary with official ceremonies and public celebrations across the country, with the spotlight on the capital Ankara.

Throughout the day, Turkish flags flutter from homes, workplaces, and public spaces, a hallmark of Republic Day celebrations in Türkiye.

Schools hold ceremonies, the neighborhoods host concerts, and families gather to mark the occasion in informal settings. In major cities, celebrations are set to continue through parades and fireworks later in the evening.
In a message released on Wednesday, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulates the citizens.
“On this proud day, I wholeheartedly congratulate every one of our 86 million citizens, the Turkish Cypriot people, and our brothers and sisters living abroad,” he said. “I commemorate with mercy the heroes who made these lands our homeland with their blood and lives.”

Erdogan paid tribute to the founder of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the members of the Grand National Assembly who led the War of Independence.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly then voted unanimously to make Ataturk, a revolutionary statesman, the country’s first president.
