Saudi Man Who Performed Hajj Over 40 Times Dies at 142

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

Nasser bin Radan Al Rashid Al Wadaei, believed to be the oldest man in Saudi Arabia, has passed away at the age of 142, leaving behind a powerful legacy of Islamic devotion and perseverance.

Born around 1883 or 1884, before the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Wadaei lived through the leadership of every Saudi king, from King Abdulaziz to King Salman. His long life witnessed major changes in the Kingdom, yet his commitment to Islam remained constant.

Al Wadaei was widely known for his deep piety and love for acts of worship. Family members said he performed the Hajj pilgrimage more than forty times, an achievement that earned him admiration across Saudi Arabia and beyond. Many regarded him as a symbol of steadfast faith and dedication to Allah.

Funeral prayers were held in Dhahran Al Janoub in the southern region of the Kingdom, where more than 7,000 people gathered to honor his life. He was later laid to rest in his home village of Al Rashid.

Despite his advanced age, Al Wadaei remained active and strong. He reportedly entered his last marriage at the age of 110 and later had a daughter. In total, he is survived by 134 children and grandchildren.

Following news of his death, social media users across Saudi Arabia shared prayers and tributes, describing him as an example of patience, long life, and devotion to Islamic worship. Many praised his consistency in performing Hajj and his lifelong attachment to the House of Allah.

Al Wadaei’s life stands as a reminder of the blessings of faith, longevity, and sincerity in worship, values deeply cherished in Islam.
