Israeli Strikes Kill Four in Gaza as Ceasefire Talks Continue

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

Israeli airstrikes have killed at least four Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to health officials, as efforts continue to revive a fragile ceasefire.

Medics said three people were killed in a strike near Salahudeen Road in central Gaza, while another person died in a separate attack near a hospital in Deir al-Balah in the south.

Violence has continued despite a ceasefire, with both Israel and Hamas accusing each other of violating the agreement.

Local health officials say at least 800 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire began, while Israel says militant attacks have killed four of its soldiers during the same period.

Meanwhile, a Hamas delegation is in Cairo for talks with mediators aimed at reviving the ceasefire and moving forward with a second phase of the agreement.

Sources close to the negotiations said progress has been slow, with key issues still unresolved.

Under the proposed second phase, Israeli forces are expected to withdraw further from Gaza, while a transitional authority and multinational security force take over. The plan also includes disarming Hamas and beginning reconstruction efforts.

The Gaza war, which began in October 2023, has killed more than 72,500 Palestinians, according to Gaza health authorities. Israel says about 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks that triggered the conflict.
