Ansar-Ud-Deen Endorses Oyebamiji for Osun Governorship

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

The Osun State chapter of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS) has declared its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The endorsement was announced during a special prayer session and meeting organised in his honour. According to the society, its decision was based on Oyebamiji’s strong Islamic background, personal character, and long-standing membership of Ansar-Ud-Deen.

Speaking on behalf of the society, the Osun State Secretary, Alhaji Akande Ola Hafiz, described Oyebamiji as a genuine member who was born and raised in the Ansar-Ud-Deen family in Ikire. He said members were delighted to see one of their own aspiring to become governor, describing it as a significant moment in the history of the society in Osun State.

Hafiz said the APC candidate is known within the organisation as a humble, peaceful and disciplined leader. He also described him as a philanthropist, devoted family man and practising Muslim who lives with the fear of Allah. He added that Oyebamiji’s record as former Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), former Commissioner for Finance and former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) reflects integrity, competence and visionary leadership.

The ADS Secretary stressed that although the society remains non-partisan, it will always support members who seek leadership positions with sincerity and competence. He said leadership is a trust from Allah, adding that the society would continue to pray for Oyebamiji’s success and ask Allah to grant him wisdom, protection and sincerity if elected.

The National President of ADS, Prince Musedik Kazeem Adeniji (SAN), represented by the National Vice President, Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd.), also endorsed Oyebamiji’s candidacy. He praised the APC flag bearer for his contributions to the growth of the society and prayed for his victory at the polls.

Responding, Oyebamiji thanked the leadership and members of Ansar-Ud-Deen for their confidence and support. He urged eligible voters not to sell their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), regardless of any inducement, and appealed to religious leaders to continue praying for a peaceful, free and credible governorship election.

The APC candidate promised to run an inclusive, transparent and people-centred government if elected. He said his administration would prioritise security, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, commerce, industry, energy and the justice sector to improve the lives of the people of Osun State.

Oyebamiji recalled that he was born and raised in the Ansar-Ud-Deen family and said the society played a major role in shaping his Islamic values and moral upbringing. He disclosed that he had received 22 awards from the organisation over the years and assured members that he would not disappoint them if elected. He also encouraged supporters to take his campaign message across every part of the state and use their PVCs to vote rather than sell them.

The event was attended by senior leaders and members of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, top APC officials, former government officials and members of Oyebamiji’s campaign team, all of whom expressed support for his governorship ambition.
