The Hisbah Board in Kano State has banned the mobile movie downloading business across all 44 local government areas of the state as part of its effort to uphold morality in the community.

According to a voice note sent to journalists by the Acting Commander General of the board, Mujahid Aminuddeen, the decision was taken in line with the board’s commitment to maintain public morality, promote good values, and ensure adherence to Islamic teachings.

He said the board’s investigation had shown that the business had become a channel for distributing movies and videos containing materials that conflict with Islamic teachings, local culture, and acceptable moral standards.

“Our findings show that this business contributes to the spread of films and videos that contain content contrary to religion, our culture, and good morals. That is why we have decided to stop the business to protect young people from moral decay and reduce the circulation of harmful content,” he said.

Mujahid urged anyone involved in the business to stop immediately, adding that the board is prepared to take legal action against any continued violation.

“We are calling on all operators of this business to comply with this directive. Anyone caught violating the ban will face the full weight of the law,” he added.
