The ancient city of Ilorin is set to witness a historic chapter unfold in the regal heart of the Emir’s Palace. The revered legal luminary and magnanimous philanthropist, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, Life Bencher, FCIArb will be turbaned as the first Kuliya Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate. The ceremony will take place at the Emir’s Palace on Friday, the 11th of this month, under the auspices of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

This ceremony is an institutional recognition of decades of quiet but unshakable commitment to the ideals that define Ilorin’s cultural and Islamic identity. The honour is richly deserved.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria since 1997, Prof. Yusuf Ali is not just one of the nation’s foremost legal minds; he is a symbol of jurisprudential clarity and moral rectitude. With a career that spans more than four decades, he has defended justice in courtrooms and stood firm on issues that matter not for accolades, but for the conscience of a nation. As Principal Partner of Ghalib Chambers, with offices in Ilorin, Abuja, and Lagos, his legal footprint is both national and generational. Yet, Prof. Ali’s achievements go far beyond the walls of law.

Those close to him speak of his generosity not as an act, but as a way of life. Through the Yusuf Olaolu Ali Foundation, he has quietly but powerfully impacted lives across educational, health, and humanitarian sectors. As Ilorin gathers at the Emir’s Palace this Friday, it will not merely be to witness a turban being tied. It will be to honour a man who chose Ilorin as his home and has since poured his heart, intellect and service into his people, faith and progress. In return, the Emirate now honours him with a little that speaks not just to who he is, but to what he represents.

Professor Yusuf Ali is a proud scion of the golden era of MSSN order. A firebrand Da’ee, humility personified, an Intellectual giant and a quantum giver. He stands firmly for Islamic causes, supports young Nigerian aspirations, promotes the wellbeing of girls and lives wholly for the betterment of humanity.

At all times, Malam Ali believes, Perfection belongs to only Allah and the easiest way to remain focused as a Muslim is to remember that whatever one is, one is a creature of Allah and that Islam should be the basis for measurement of a Muslim daily activities in all his endeavours.

The Kuliya Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate is a Silk Lecturer and the head of Ghalib Chambers.
