Gratitude an Act of Ibadah – Ramadan Digest (episode6)

Gratitude is more than just saying Alhamdulillah, it is about how we use our blessings. In Ramadan, gratitude means: Cherishing the Ability to Fast, not everyone has the strength or health to do so, feeding others, sharing meals, donating, and supporting those in need. Making the Most of Our Time, using Ramadan to deepen our connection with Allah, appreciating Loved Ones, strengthening family ties and showing kindness.

This evening, worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah will be led in Taraweeh prayers by:
Sheikh Bandar Baleelah and Sheikh Badr Al Turki
Global Ramadan News & Headlines

Malaysia:  With the current rising costs of raw food items that force vendors to increase their prices, most vendors have decided to maintain their prices for the sake of their customers during this Ramadan period.

Saudi Arabia: Snapchat has reported a significant increase in user engagement in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan, with over 10 billion Stories viewed daily in the country last year. The platform continues to be a central hub for sharing experiences and celebrating Ramadan traditions.

Sudan: Ramadan Relief Efforts Continue Amid Conflict
Charities are ramping up aid programs to support displaced families.

Nigeria: Food Prices Begin to Decline. In states like Yobe and Borno, the commencement of Ramadan has led to a notable decrease in food prices, particularly for staples like millet, maize, beans, and rice, providing relief to many households.

UAE: 10,000 Iftar Meals Served Daily for Workers
Dubai-based charities are ensuring that labourers have a dignified meal at Iftar.

Nigeria: Sokoto Scholars Urge Deeper Qur’an Reflection. Islamic scholars emphasize that Ramadan is not just about fasting, but about connecting deeply with the Qur’an.

Health Tip
Here’s how to improve your sleep cycle today and for the rest of the month: Avoid too much caffeine after Iftar to prevent sleep disruption.

Sleep Early: Try to sleep right after Isha & Taraweeh to get at least 4–5 hours of uninterrupted rest.
Nap Smartly: An afternoon nap between Zuhr and Asr prayers can prevent sluggishness without disrupting night sleep.
Suhoor Timing: Wake up 30–40 minutes before Fajr for Suhoor, allowing time for digestion before prayer.
Tahajjud Practice: If you wake up just before Fajr, pray 2 rak’ahs of Tahajjud, even if short, it brings immense blessings!

Today’s Challenge

Tonight, write down five things you are grateful for this Ramadan.
It could be:
The ability to not have missed a Taraweeh prayer to date.
A heartfelt dua that Allah has accepted.
A deeper connection with the Qur’an.
A lesson or realization you have had so far this Ramadan.
Reflect on how each blessing impacts your life and say Alhamdulillah!

Qur’an Verse of the day

“The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights the new moon of the month, let him fast it…” (Qur’an 2:185)

Hadith
“Fasting is a shield; so when one of you fasts, let him not utter foul speech or raise his voice in anger. If someone insults him or fights him, let him say: ‘I am fasting.’ By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell of the fasting person’s mouth is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. He leaves his food, his drink, and his desires for My sake. Fasting is for Me, and I will reward it. Every good deed is multiplied tenfold, but fasting is for Me, and I alone will reward it beyond measure.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1894, Sahih Muslim 1151)

“Indeed, there is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Rayyan. Only those who fast will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection, and no one else will enter through it. It will be said: ‘Where are those who fasted?’ They will rise, and none but them will enter. When they have entered, it will be closed, and no one else will enter through it.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1896, Sahih Muslim 1152)

May Allah grant us hearts that are always content, tongues that constantly say Alhamdulillah and deeds that reflect our thankfulness.
