NASFAT Hosts Grand Laylatul Qadr Gathering with Thousands in Attendance

By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Nasrul-Lahi-il Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) held its grand Laylatul Qadr programme at its headquarters in Asese, Ogun State.

People from different parts of the country attended the event, with the NASFAT National Public Relations Secretary, Shamsudeen Owolabi, noting a significant increase in attendance compared to previous years.

The programme began with an opening prayer led by Imam Abdulwakeel Salman, he expressed gratitude to the attendees for making the journey to NASFAT’s headquarters for the special night. He emphasised the importance of unity and brotherhood in Islam.

In his keynote address, the President of NASFAT, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Ayodeji, highlighted the significance of Laylatul Qadr. Quoting the Qur’an, he said, “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months” [Qur’an, 97:3].

He emphasised that acts of worship performed on this night hold immense rewards, urging Muslims to remain steadfast in their devotion.

Renowned Islamic scholar Ustaz Musa Muhammed Raji delivered a thought-provoking lecture, stressing the oneness of Allah.

He urged worshippers to place their trust solely in Allah, as he is the only one who has the power to grant their requests.

The special prayer session was led by NASFAT’s Chief Missioner, Maruf Abdulazeez Onike, who prayed for the well-being of the nation and all attendees.

To ensure the comfort of attendees, NASFAT provided sahur for them. Medical services were also made available to attend to any health concerns during the night-long prayers.

Laylatul Qadr, observed during the last ten nights of Ramadan, is believed to be the night when the Qur’an was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Muslims regard it as a night of immense blessings, seeking forgiveness, mercy, and divine favour through prayers and good deeds.

The NASFAT leadership encouraged attendees to continue their acts of worship beyond Laylatul Qadr, including prayers, charity, and recitation of the Qur’an while refraining from sinful behaviour.
