The country’s insecurity affects other religion. Prof Akintola of MURIC Explains

Bishop Mathew Hasan Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese has been called upon by The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) to apologise regarding what it described as misleading allegations of Islamisation and claims that only Christians are being targeted in Nigeria’s insecurity crisis.

Following a statement issued on Tuesday, Professor Ishaq Akintola, The Executive Director of MURIC, explains that the insecurity in the country does not target one religion, Both Christians and Muslims already fell victims to several terrorists Attacks.

Citing reference, Akintola brings to notice of recent incidents, which involves the abduction of 40 Muslim Worshippers from a Mosque in Gidan Turbe Village, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State on Monday and it was the same day Rev. Wilfred Ezemba, a Catholic priest in Kogi State also got Kidnapped.

“These two terrorist attacks states the fact that these bandits aim at no particular religion or ethnuc group. What they are after is ransom. Terror has no faith, and crime has no colour,” he said.

He went on stating many other attacks of Muslims in other states including Sokoto and Katsina in recent Years, adding that such tragedies expose what he described as “false narratives” of Islamisation.

MURIC described those who attribute terror attacks to religious motives as “anarchists, alarmists, and entrepreneurs of falsehood,” and urged Nigerians to resist being misled by divisive rhetoric.

Bishop Kukah is therefore called upon to tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians for misleading them for so long,” Akintola added.
