Al-Usrah Demands Action as Violence Rises

Group decries killings, abductions and urges urgent protection for schools and communities.

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

In light of the recent tragic events shaking various communities across Nigeria, Al-Usrah Incorporated, Port Harcourt, has issued a heartfelt and urgent call addressing the rising cases of killings, abductions, and insecurity across the nation.

Concerned by the recurring violence that continues to inflict pain on families and weaken the sense of safety among citizens, the organisation has released the following statement, reflecting its position and renewed appeal for justice, peace, and protection for all.

The press release reads:

A CALL FOR JUSTICE, PEACE, AND THE PROTECTION OF INNOCENT LIVES IN NIGERIA

Al-Usrah Incorporated, Port Harcourt, expresses deep concern and strongly condemns the recent killings and abductions that continue to destabilize and distress our nation. The recent killings and abductions at Government Girls Comprehensive School in Maga town, Kebbi State, CAC Church in Eruku, Kwara State, and St. Mary Private School in Niger State have once again thrown families, communities, and the entire country into fear, grief, and uncertainty.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the families of all the victims. No parent deserves the pain of not knowing where their children are; no community deserves to live under the shadow of terror; and no Nigerian deserves to feel unsafe in their own homeland. Our prayers are with the affected families, may Allah grant them strength, patience, and hope in this trying time.

As Muslims, we stand firmly on the teachings of the Qur’an, which strongly condemns the taking of innocent lives. Allah (SWT) says:

“…whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land — it is as if he had slain all mankind; and whoever saves one — it is as if he has saved all mankind.” (Qur’an 5:32)

These heinous acts of violence, killings, and abductions directly contradict the commandments of Allah and the values of humanity, justice, and compassion.

We urgently call on the Government and security agencies to act firmly for the immediate release of abducted children and all victims, while prioritizing the safety of every citizen. Our schools, children, and places of worship must be protected, as no nation can thrive under fear. We pray to Almighty Allah to comfort grieving families, restore peace, guide our leaders, bring the perpetrators to justice, and safely return the victims to their loved ones.

Al-Usrah Incorporated is a faith-based organization committed to fostering moral guidance, community development, and social responsibility within the Muslim community in Port Harcourt and beyond. Through educational programmes, humanitarian initiatives, and advocacy for justice and peace, the organisation continues to uplift families, support vulnerable groups, and promote Islamic values rooted in compassion, unity, and service to humanity. With a growing network of dedicated members, Al-Usrah Inc. remains a trusted voice for positive change and societal progress.
