VP says late Tijjaniyya leader’s legacy of peace must guide Islamic scholarship

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Islamic scholars across Nigeria and Africa to uphold the values of dialogue, moderation, and inclusivity, describing them as the true heritage of Islam.

Speaking at the burial of the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Shettima praised the revered cleric for embodying a lifelong commitment to tolerance and peaceful engagement.

He emphasized that Islam is founded on dialogue and understanding, “not fanaticism, not extremism,” and described Sheikh Dahiru’s death as a monumental loss to both Nigeria and the global Muslim Ummah.

Shettima urged scholars to preserve and propagate the late Tijjaniyya leader’s legacy, ensuring that his dedication to unity and harmony continues to inspire future generations.
