Katsina Gov’t Meets with KEDCO

The meeting aims at providing stable power supply during Ramadan

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

Katsina State Government has held a strategic meeting with the management of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) to ensure improved electricity supply across the state ahead of Ramadan.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, the Special Adviser on Power and Energy to the Governor explained that the engagement reflects the Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s generous commitment to the welfare and comfort of the people of Katsina State, particularly during the holy month when stable power supply is critical for households, mosques, businesses, and community activities.

According to him, “Governor Radda is determined to ensure that the people of Katsina are not in any way inconvenienced during Ramadan saying engagement with all relevant stakeholders will continue in order to deliver on this commitment,”.

During the meeting, KEDCO briefed the state delegation on the recent temporary reduction in power supply experienced in parts of Katsina with explaination that the situation is linked to a technical issue affecting Line 1 under the Transmission Company of Nigeria, which has constrained available supply within the network.

KEDCO assured the state government that corrective measures are ongoing in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria and that power supply is expected to improve significantly in the coming days.

The electricity company also disclosed that maintenance and upgrade works earlier scheduled for this period have been deliberately rescheduled to after Ramadan to minimize disruptions and ensure stable electricity supply for residents throughout the holy month.

The collaboration is aimed at strengthening distribution infrastructure, improving service quality, and ensuring that investments translate into measurable improvements in electricity access and reliability across all 34 local government areas.

The Katsina State Government assured residents of its continued engagement with sector stakeholders to guarantee stable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply across the state.
