Drones and missiles hit key air sites as tensions rise.

An armed group linked to Iraq says it carried out drone and missile attacks on several military bases in Jordan early Saturday.

The group which is known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, said it targeted five major sites, including important airbases and a military section of Queen Alia International Airport. These locations are believed to support U.S. and Israeli operations.

The targets included Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Azraq, King Abdullah II Air Base, King Faisal Air Base in the south, and Prince Hassan Air Base near Jordan’s eastern border.

The group explained that the attacks were in response to Jordan’s support for actions against Iran and its allies. According to report, Jordan’s military stopped some of the incoming weapons, but according to people nearby, they said they heard loud explosions near Azraq and around the capital, Amman.

The incident has put pressure on the Iraqi government. Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani had promised to keep Iraq out of regional conflict, but this attack raises concerns about control over armed groups operating from its territory.

Meanwhile, countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have reportedly contacted Iraq, asking it to stop its land from being used to launch such attacks.
