MSSN Urges FG to Fully Implement Digital Secondary School Curriculum

Tajudeen calls for better schools, trained teachers, and digital learning for students

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has called on the Federal Government to fully roll out the new secondary school curriculum, especially the digital education part, to help students compete globally.

Mustapha Tajudeen, National Amir of MSSN, made the call on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 National Convention of Muslim Students in Secondary Schools at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. He welcomed the inclusion of digital technology in schools but warned that policy alone is not enough. “Without proper classrooms, labs, trained teachers, and supervision, our students cannot compete globally,” he said. He urged government and other stakeholders to make the resources available and follow through on the plan.

Tajudeen also said that investing in basic education is important. Classrooms, laboratories, and digital learning facilities must meet modern standards. He praised the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for introducing Computer-Based Testing, calling it a good step to reduce exam cheating and improve fairness.

On the convention theme, “Digital Minds, Godly Hearts: Nurturing Smart Muslim Youths for National Development,” Tajudeen told students to embrace technology and innovation while staying strong in faith and good morals. He said youth is a crucial time to learn, grow, and prepare to serve society.

He also encouraged students to learn from Muslim scholars who succeeded in science, medicine, and philosophy, showing that doing well in work and staying religious can go together.

Tajudeen spoke about MSSN’s work since 1954, praising the group for promoting education, moral development, leadership, and national unity. He asked students to stay active in MSSN and use what they learn to help their communities.

The convention brought together 370 students from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. It included leadership training, discussions, cultural exchange, and community service, teaching students skills in technology, advocacy, and nation building.

Tajudeen thanked guest speaker Afis Oladosu, Chairman Sulayman Yusuf, the University of Ibadan Muslim Community, and others for supporting the event. He told students to use their knowledge, embrace innovation, and become positive leaders in their schools and communities.
