Warning comes as tensions rises due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict

A senior cleric in Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qubbanji, has called on Iraqi youth to be ready if the growing conflict between the United States and Iran turns into a ground war.
Speaking during a religious sermon, al-Qubbanji urged the youths to stay prepared to respond if needed and to support Islam and Shiism, which is the main branch of Islam followed in Iraq.
Meanwhile, a report by The Washington Post said the US military has prepared a high risk plan to take control of Iran’s uranium stockpile. The plan, reportedly approved by President Donald Trump, could involve sending hundreds or even thousands of troops into Iran in a complex ground operation.
According to Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, about seven million citizens have volunteered to fight, showing readiness for a possible war. At the same time, Iran’s Army Commander, Major General Amir Hatami, warned that Iran would target US allies in the Middle East if such an operation takes place.
