Tehran vows escalating retaliation after Trump threatens Iranian energy and infrastructure

Iran has warned that it could carry out much stronger and larger scale attacks on United States targets in the Middle East if assaults on Iran’s civilian infrastructure continue. The warning was issued by Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian armed forces.

Speaking on Iranian state television, Zolfaghari said that any attack on civilian targets in Iran would trigger a strong and direct response against US interests. He emphasized that repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure would be met with even larger and more powerful retaliatory operations.

He further stated that if the current policy of aggression continues, the resulting damage and losses for the United States would multiply, underscoring Tehran’s determination to defend its territory and people.

The warning comes as a response to the statement by US President Donald Trump on Sunday, threatening to strike Iran’s energy and civilian infrastructure unless the Strait of Hormuz was reopened by Monday. The threat has raised tensions in the region and prompted concerns about further escalation.

Iran’s statement signals the country’s readiness to respond to any further attacks while reinforcing that its retaliation will target US interests rather than Iranian civilians. Officials emphasized that the Iranian armed forces remain capable of defending national assets and responding proportionately to external threats.
