Iran has accused the United States of carrying out a hostile naval operation against an Iranian merchant vessel in the Sea of Oman, saying US forces boarded the ship and disrupted its navigation systems.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Lt.-Col. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, described the incident as a violation of the ceasefire and called it an act of “maritime aggression,” warning that Iran would respond.

He claimed the Iranian container ship Toska, which was sailing from China to Iran, was targeted, and said Iranian forces responded with drone strikes on US naval vessels in the area.

Iran also accused the United States of carrying out what it called “maritime piracy,” while warning that its armed forces are prepared to defend national interests and respond to any further attacks.

The report also says the United States announced a naval blockade on Iran and made statements regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz, while Iran insisted its actions are defensive and tied to ongoing tensions.

The incident comes amid continued disputes between Tehran and Washington following earlier military confrontations and ceasefire discussions.
