Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has accused Israel of trying to mislead the UN Security Council by presenting itself as a victim while hiding its own actions.
In a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the Security Council, Iravani rejected claims made by Israel, describing them as baseless and unjustified.
He said the Israeli communication contained accusations against Iran that were not true and were meant to distort the situation.
Iravani added that Israel is trying to justify what he described as unlawful actions by shifting blame and hiding violations of international law and the UN Charter. He also accused Israel of carrying out aggressive actions against Lebanon and other countries in the region.
The Iranian envoy said Tehran strongly rejects the claims and sees them as an attempt to cover up ongoing violations, including breaches of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and actions against Lebanon’s sovereignty.
He further stated that Israel has continued to ignore its international obligations and has not stopped actions that have been reported by Lebanon to the UN.
