Saudi Arabia is expected to see heavy rainfall across many regions throughout the week, according to the National Centre for Meteorology.

The agency warned that the rain could be accompanied by strong winds of up to 60 km/h, hailstorms, high sea waves, and possible flash floods.

Rain is forecast to begin from Sunday evening in areas including Mecca, Asir, Al Baha, Medina, Qassim, and the Northern Borders, with heavier rain expected in Taif and near Hafr Al Batin.

Weather conditions are expected to ease slightly early Monday before heavy rain returns to central Mecca, along with scattered showers in parts of Jazan and Asir.

By Monday afternoon, rain is likely to spread across southwestern regions, including Jazan, Asir, and Mecca, before moving towards Riyadh and the Eastern Province later in the day.

Rainfall is expected to reduce by Tuesday morning, though light showers may continue in Riyadh, before new rainfall develops again in southern regions such as Najran.

Rain will continue into Wednesday, becoming heavier in Asir, Najran, and Jazan, before moving northwards to areas like Tabuk and Al Jouf.

By Thursday and Friday, rainfall is expected to return to southwestern regions, including Jazan, Asir, and Mecca, before gradually weakening and shifting eastwards.

Conditions are likely to improve by Saturday, although some light rain may still affect parts of Riyadh, Mecca, and the Eastern Province, with another round of heavier rain possible later in the day.
