Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States and Israel of pursuing policies aimed at creating division among Muslim countries and weakening regional unity through what he described as “divisive projects” and distrust-building strategies.

He made the remarks on Sunday during a meeting in Tehran with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where he emphasized Iran’s commitment to strengthening friendly and stable relations with neighbouring and regional Islamic states, particularly in the Persian Gulf.

Pezeshkian said Iran’s foreign policy is based on good neighbourliness and cooperation, but claimed that the US and Israel have consistently tried to pit Muslim countries against one another in order to advance their own regional interests.

He praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating diplomatic efforts, including its involvement in helping to mediate a ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Washington after recent hostilities, and expressed hope that continued dialogue would promote long-term peace and stability in the region.

The Iranian president also strongly condemned what he described as military aggression against Iran, saying such actions violated international norms and targeted both senior officials and civilians, while insisting that Iran had remained resilient in the face of external pressure.

He further alleged that hostile actors had attempted to destabilize Iran through cross-border infiltration and support for armed groups, but said neighbouring countries had cooperated responsibly by preventing their territories from being used against Iran.

Pezeshkian praised Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan for what he called constructive behaviour in this regard, and called for deeper unity among Muslim nations to resist foreign interference and strengthen regional security.

The Pakistani interior minister, in response, said recent regional developments had helped clarify political realities and underscored the importance of strong bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan.
