Saudi Arabia has stepped up security preparations for the 1447H Hajj as the number of foreign pilgrims arriving in the Kingdom passed 1.5 million. Authorities say the pilgrimage will not be allowed to be used for activities that go against the spiritual purpose of Hajj.

During a security briefing in Makkah, officials said advanced surveillance systems, artificial intelligence, and field operations are being used to manage crowds, reduce congestion, and stop unauthorized pilgrims from entering the holy city.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Bassami, Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, said all security agencies have completed their preparations to ensure pilgrims perform their rituals safely and peacefully.

Authorities disclosed that more than 217 fake Hajj campaigns were uncovered, while 7,733 people violating residency, labour, and border laws were stopped from entering Makkah. More than 366,000 unauthorized individuals were also denied access to the holy city during the Hajj season.

Security forces have been deployed across key pilgrimage sites, including Namirah Mosque, Jabal Al Rahmah, and the Jamarat complex, as Saudi Arabia increases efforts to protect pilgrims and maintain order during Hajj.

Officials also confirmed that more than 1.518 million pilgrims from abroad had arrived in the Kingdom by Friday, most of them through Saudi airports.
