The League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba land has called on security agencies in Nigeria to intensify efforts to protect lives and property across the country, following recent cases of abductions and other violent crimes.

In a statement issued by its President, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere, the clerics expressed concern over rising insecurity, particularly the kidnapping of pupils and teachers in parts of Oyo State.

They described such attacks as unacceptable and contrary to Islamic teachings, stressing that Islam places strong emphasis on the protection of human life and social order.

The group urged security agencies to swiftly track down and prosecute those responsible for kidnapping, armed robbery, ritual killings, and other violent crimes affecting communities nationwide.

It also called on parents, community leaders, and religious bodies to remain vigilant and support security efforts aimed at protecting schools and public institutions.

The League said it has begun special prayers across Yoruba land, seeking divine intervention for peace, stability, and the return of security in affected areas.
