Says killing of any child is a crime against humanity and calls for stronger global protection of schools and civilians in conflict zone

A senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, has strongly condemned the killing of children in armed conflict, describing it as a grave crime against humanity.

In a message marking a memorial ceremony for victims of the Minab school incident, Velayati said the death of any child anywhere in the world is equivalent to the loss of all humanity’s children.

He referenced the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, which was established following the deaths of children in Lebanon and Palestine in 1982.

Velayati also accused the United States and Israel of repeating similar acts of violence, citing reported deaths of Iranian children and teachers during recent conflict events.

He described attacks on schools and children as unacceptable and criticised what he called hypocrisy in global human rights discussions.

The Iranian official said Iran seeks to highlight the suffering of children in conflict zones, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon, and called for stronger international legal protection for schools and civilians.

He also urged the creation of stronger global mechanisms to prevent attacks on educational institutions and protect children during war.
