No Child Should Miss School – Zazzau Emir

Monarch urges wealthy Nigerians to support education of less privileged children

By Sadiq Abdulfatah

The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has called on wealthy individuals and philanthropists to assist children from poor families with their school fees, stressing that no child should be denied access to education because of poverty.

The monarch made the appeal at the graduation ceremony of UMRABS School in Tudun Jukun, Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, held at the weekend.

Expressing concern over the growing number of out-of-school children roaming the streets in many northern cities, the Emir urged communities to share the responsibility of supporting the education of less privileged children.

He also advised parents to remain committed to providing their children with sound moral upbringing and quality education, describing the family as the foundation for raising responsible future leaders. He added that parents should work closely with teachers to ensure children receive proper guidance, discipline and quality learning.

Bamalli commended the graduating pupils for their impressive performances, saying their confidence, discipline and academic excellence reflected the dedication and sacrifices of their teachers.

Speaking further on the state of education in the country, the Emir urged communities to complement government efforts by supporting children whose parents could not afford school fees, insisting that poverty should never prevent any child from going to school.

He also praised the management of UMRABS School for maintaining high academic standards while combining western education with sound Islamic studies.

Earlier, the Director of the school, Dr Isa Saidu, thanked the Emir and members of his entourage for attending the graduation ceremony, describing their presence as a great honour and a source of encouragement to the pupils that would remain memorable in the history of the institution.

Dr Saidu also clarified that UMRABS School does not impose excessive graduation charges on parents, unlike the practice in some schools, adding that the institution would never exploit parents under the guise of organising graduation ceremonies.

He further reminded parents to comply with the school’s rules and regulations to ensure the smooth academic progress of their children.
