Commends Her Humility, Calls for Unity Among Market Leaders
The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, His Eminence Sheikh Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, has congratulated Princess Azeezat Folashade Abeo Nurudeen on her appointment as the Iyaloja General of Oyo State by Governor Seyi Makinde, describing her return to the prestigious position as a recognition of her experience, proven leadership and contributions to the growth of trade and commerce in the state.
In a congratulatory message, the Grand Chief Imam expressed confidence that her appointment would strengthen unity among market associations, promote cooperation among traders and contribute to the economic development of Oyo State.
He recalled that the late Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, had installed her in the same position on 26 April 2021, following consultations and endorsements by market leaders. He noted that her previous tenure demonstrated her capacity to coordinate the affairs of traders and advance the interests of the market community.
Sheikh Akeugberu particularly commended her humility and respectful disposition towards his office, describing these qualities as worthy of emulation. He stressed that mutual respect between religious and community leaders remained vital to peaceful coexistence, understanding and unity across the state.
The Grand Chief Imam urged her to sustain these admirable qualities and discharge her responsibilities with fairness, integrity and a genuine commitment to the welfare of traders. He also called on market leaders, traders and artisans across the state’s 33 local government areas to give her the necessary support and cooperation to succeed.
While commending Governor Makinde for recognising the importance of organised market leadership, he expressed hope that the appointments would strengthen coordination among trade associations and create greater opportunities for commercial growth and economic prosperity.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the new Iyaloja General wisdom, sound judgement, good health and the strength to fulfil her responsibilities successfully. He further prayed for a peaceful and productive tenure, asking Allah to make her leadership a source of unity, progress and prosperity for traders and the entire people of Oyo State.
The Grand Chief Imam reaffirmed his commitment to promoting dialogue, mutual respect and cooperation among religious, traditional and community leaders for the continued peace and development of Oyo State.
